Earl Grey Chocolate Loaf
This Earl Grey Chocolate Loaf is rich in chocolate flavor with subtle notes of Earl Grey throughout, and it’s finished with a glossy Earl Grey ganache. It’s soft, indulgent, and the dreamiest bake!!

Key Ingredients
01. Cocoa Powder
It’s important to use good-quality cocoa powder for the best flavor. We love using Ghirardelli.
02. Earl Grey Tea
Adds subtle citrusy, floral notes to the loaf and ganache. We recommend this one. The longer you steep the tea (5-10 minutes), the stronger the flavor will be, but be careful not to over-steep, or it can turn bitter. If using loose leaf tea, strain the tea leaves before adding the infused milk or cream.

03. Heavy Cream
Heavy cream is essential for making a silky, smooth ganache that sets properly. We don’t recommend substituting it with half-and-half or whole milk! When heating, bring it just to a simmer and avoid boiling.
04. Semi Sweet Chocolate
For best results, we recommend chocolate baking bars. Chop the chocolate finely before adding the warm cream so it melts evenly.

Recipe Tips
Don’t overmix the batter: As with any cake, be careful not to overmix the batter! This can make the cake dense instead of light and airy.
Add warm Earl Grey tea: This recipe calls for warm Earl Grey tea. To make it, brew one tea bag or 1 teaspoon of loose-leaf Earl Grey tea in 1/3 cup of hot water. Let it steep for 3-5 minutes, then remove the tea bag or strain the leaves. The tea will add moisture, enhance the chocolate flavor, and deepen the Earl Grey taste.
