Cinnamon Sugar Donuts

These baked cinnamon sugar donuts are soft, fluffy, and honestly just the coziest treat. Once they come out of the oven, you dip them in melted butter and roll them in a sweet cinnamon sugar coating.

Ingredients you’ll need

  • Butter: melted butter goes into the donut batter and is also used for dipping after they’re baked
  • Sugar: a mix of granulated sugar and brown sugar for the perfect sweetness
  • Egg: one egg is all you need
  • Yogurt, sour cream, or buttermilk: we’ve tested this recipe with all three, so use whatever you have on hand
  • Vanilla extract: just a teaspoon for flavor
  • All purpose flour: for the base of the donuts
  • Cinnamon: for both the batter and sugar coating
  • Baking powder and baking soda: these help the donuts rise and get fluffy
  • Salt: just a pinch

Make Ahead & Storage

How to store: These donuts are best served the day they’re made. Keep in an airtight container at room temperature for 2 days.

Can I freeze baked donuts? Absolutely! Freeze them uncoated in a bag or container for up to a month. When you’re ready to serve, warm them in the oven and dip in butter and cinnamon sugar.
